We are seeking a dedicated Back-End Software Engineer to join our AuthSec (Authentication Security) group

This role will focus on developing and maintaining our core back-end services, with a resilient emphasis on user authentication, service authorization, and data privacy

The ideal candidate will have a powerful background in Java, familiarity building highly scalable, robust systems, particularly in the authentication and authorization domain

As a Sr. Software Engineer, you’ll what you will do….

team up with cross-functional teams, including global architecture, product steerment and other engineers, for development of new features, and maintenance of Ancestry’s authentication and authorization services

Design, build, and realize scalable and efficient back-end solutions using Java with a mix of Spring WebFlux and MVC on AWS cloud infrastructure

At Ancestry, ensure that the system architecture supports scalability, security, and privacy prerequisites.

Participate in code reviews and verify quality standards and best practices are maintained

At Ancestry, develop and deploy resilient back-end services, taking full ownership of code quality through comprehensive unit testing.

Who you are…

At Ancestry, bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, or equivalent collaborate expertise, coupled with 3+ years of professional expertise as a back-end software engineer.

Proficiency in building APIs with Java and Spring Boot, with bonus practice in the reactive ecosystem using Spring WebFlux

At Ancestry, a critical understanding of authentication and authorization principles, including jwt and encryption, is required.

Practical track record implementing modern authentication solutions, including MFA, SSO, OAuth, and full token lifecycle orchestratement is highly valued

Experience with relational databases like MySQL and cloud platforms like AWS

Solid understanding of version control systems such as Git and incremental methodologies

Experience with CI/CD processes and tools for seamless integration and rollout

Strong problem-solving competencies, with the ability to troubleshoot and debug applications independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment

Experience with NoSQL databases and caching technologies (e.g., Elasticsearch, Redis) is a plus

Experience with the modern JavaScript ecosystem (e.g., React, Node.js) is a plus
