Systems Engineer I

Exelon is seeking a Systems Engineer I to support enterprise IT infrastructure initiatives across its Pennsylvania operations. This hybrid role is based in the Philadelphia area and offers the opportunity to work within a large-scale energy and utilities enterprise focused on reliability, innovation, and secure technology operations.

In this position, you will assist in the design, configuration, deployment, and maintenance of IT systems supporting cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments. Working under the guidance of senior engineers and managers, you will contribute to infrastructure projects, support system integrations, and help ensure secure and reliable hosting of business-critical applications.

Key responsibilities include drafting technical documentation, creating logical and physical architecture diagrams, supporting system implementation plans, and assisting with troubleshooting and optimization efforts. You will collaborate with cross-functional IT teams, vendors, business stakeholders, and architecture review boards to align technology solutions with operational needs.

The role also involves supporting monitoring activities, conducting basic troubleshooting through log analysis, assisting with disaster recovery planning, and contributing to risk assessments. You will gain hands-on experience with Windows Server environments, Active Directory, PowerShell scripting, networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, OSI model), and cloud technologies.

Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Networking, or a related field along with 2–4 years of relevant experience. Knowledge of system administration, cloud platforms, security best practices, and scripting is important. Familiarity with tools such as ServiceNow, JIRA, configuration monitoring systems, and change management processes is beneficial.
